Two teams featured Nood Co's basins in their main ensuites in the latest reveals on The Block 2024. While Courtney & Grant's space earned high praise, Kristian & Mimi's design struggled to find balance despite incorporating beautiful elements.
Courtney & Grant: A Winning Combination with Olive Mill Basins
Courtney and Grant's main ensuite dazzled the judges with its bold yet refined design, featuring two of Nood Co's Mill Basins in Olive. The space perfectly balanced a neutral palette with pops of colour, with the muted olive green basins providing a subtle yet striking focal point.
The judges were immediately captivated. Darren’s enthusiastic "I love this!" and Shaynna’s "This is beautiful!" set the tone for the room, which Marty later described as "insane." The travertine checkerboard tiles, inspired plasterwork, and the thoughtful mix of textures created a space that was both brave and brilliant. Shaynna praised the room's tactile quality, describing it as "touch-worthy," a sentiment Darren echoed with, "I want to touch everything."
Courtney and Grant's clear vision for their ensuite—a continuation of their "Moderterranean" style—was evident in every detail. The combination of travertine tiles, a double shower, and Venetian plaster resulted in an unbeatable aesthetic. The judges also appreciated the practical elements, like the sliding door entrance, which enhanced the room’s spaciousness.
The Olive Mill Basins played a key role in elevating the room’s design, adding character and depth to the overall look. As Marty noted, "This is something you'll find in a six-star hotel anywhere in the world." The space was so impressive that Darren declared it the "point of comparison" for all other rooms, setting a new benchmark in ensuite design.
Kristian & Mimi: Striking Basins in a Challenging Layout
Kristian and Mimi's main ensuite featured Nood Co's Prism Circle Basins in Copan Blue, a bold choice that added vibrant colour and texture to the design. However, while the basins were a standout feature, the room's overall layout and execution left the judges less than impressed.
Upon entering, the judges were immediately struck by the room's size. While the space included a double shower, double vanity, and ample room to move, the layout felt awkward and unbalanced. Darren praised individual elements like the Reece Kado Era Wall Hung Vanity paired with the Nood Co Prism Circle Basins, saying, "I love the materiality, I love the texture, I love the colour, I think it’s gorgeous." But he, along with the other judges, couldn’t overlook the room’s disjointed feel.
Despite the impressive investment of $32,805—the highest among the teams—Kristian and Mimi's design was marred by unfinished details and a layout that left too much space in some areas while crowding others. Marty lamented, "This is a massive drop of the ball for the winners of the previous weeks," emphasising the importance of this room for the sale of the house.
The Copan Blue basins, though beautiful, couldn’t compensate for the poorly planned shower and overall lack of cohesion. Marty’s final remarks summed up the room’s shortcomings: "It's a real letdown for such an important room."
Conclusion
Both Courtney & Grant and Kristian & Mimi showcased Nood Co’s stunning basins in their main ensuites, demonstrating the power of our products to elevate any design. While Courtney & Grant’s Olive Mill Basins helped create a space that set a new standard for luxury, Kristian & Mimi’s Copan Blue Prism Circle Basins, though striking, were ultimately overshadowed by a challenging layout.
