At Perth-based design firm Studio Traces, minimalism is a study in nuance.  Led by creative designer Tracy Zorich, the Studio composes spaces like poems, overflowing with texture, emotion and the kind of beauty you feel before you see it.  Every surface, shadow and curve carries intention.  Studio Traces crafts interiors that invite touch and leave an atmosphere that lingers long after you’ve gone.

For Tracy, design is never about following trends.  Her approach is deeply considered, rooted in functionality yet driven by the pursuit of feeling.  She describes her philosophy as “unique, rebellious yet considered,” but it is subtlety that defines Studio Traces work.  Whether expressed through a bold statement or a subtle detail, every project carries a character that feels entirely its own.

Ember Bath House is one of Tracy’s most celebrated projects, a place she calls a “pinch ourselves moment.”  Within the walls of an old Osborne Park warehouse, the play of light, stone and texture forms a sanctuary devoted to ritual and stillness. The process was guided as much by intuition as by planning, evolving in real time to create a space where every material and every detail contributes to an atmosphere of calm.

Influenced by the traditions of Japanese and Korean design, Studio Traces creates harmony between earthy tactility and refined form. At Ember rough stone and soft textures share the stage with sculptural fixtures and gentle light, each element chosen for the way it shapes the experience of the room.

When it comes to selecting products, Tracy is exacting. She asks: “Is it fit for purpose? Does it elevate the design? Can it be sourced locally?” The answer brought Nood Co. into the fold, with our handmade in Perth concrete basins providing a tactile counterpoint to Ember’s textural palette, a moment of quiet within the rhythm of the space.

Colour in Tracy’s world is purposeful. Each tone is chosen to shift the mood of a space, to bring energy, calm or presence. At Ember, warm tones and earthy shades set the mood, layered with tactile finishes that heighten the sense of stillness. Our Mill and Loop 01 Basins in the colour Nood were used in the main and private bathroom areas, their soft tones and tactile finish echoing the calm that defines Ember.

“There is a handmade quality and bespoke product feel, yet so much function, together with a well considered colour palette.”  Tracy’s words capture exactly what we hope to bring to projects like Ember, where our basins become more than functional pieces. They become part of the atmosphere itself.

When Tracy speaks about her own dream home, she describes a feeling rather than a floor plan. “A space where I feel free, secure, able to express myself. A place that holds you, but also lets you host a small party of like minded friends.”  It is intimacy infused with expression, an ethos that resonates throughout her studios work.

Tracy Zorich and the Studio Traces team doesn’t just design interiors. They craft experiences. Ember Bath House stands as her most ambitious poem, a place where minimalism becomes sensory, where light and shadow hold you and where every detail is designed to be felt.

For us at Nood Co., being part of Ember was a privilege. A reminder that even the quietest objects can carry presence, shaping moments that linger long after the water has stopped flowing.
