Years in the making, HAAUS Design co-founder Alliera's dream home embodies a blend of curves, stone, and a warm, natural palette aimed at creating a forever home fit for a family. This modern Australian interpretation of Palm Springs boasts 5 bedrooms, including a loft, open-plan living, an alfresco area, pool, and a charming outdoor cubby, all crafted with passion and care. HAAUS Design completed all the product and interior selections for the project.
In the powder room, the traditional bathroom setup is reimagined without a mirror above the basin, allowing the travertine Kit Kat tiles from Amber Tiles to shine. Complemented by custom cabinetry, the Luna Freestanding Basin in Ivory stands out as a statement piece in the space.
The main bathroom exemplifies the impact of colour in a space. The space is injected with colour with the addition of floor to ceiling handmade Moroccan Bejmat tiles in a beautiful blush tone.
When using colour in a space, Alliera and Rebecca suggest viewing your basin, tapware and tile samples in the space itself as lighting will have an effect on how the finishes look and feel. Their second tip was to balance colourful spaces with neutrals and natural materials like timber or stone so as not to overwhelm the space and allow the colour to shine.
The primary ensuite is designed to evoke a holiday feeling, featuring handmade Moroccan Zellige tiles in 'Ecru' and brushed brass fixtures, with multiple skylights flooding the space with natural light. This creates a serene environment, further enhanced by side-by-side Nood Co’s perfectly imperfect Mill Basins in the colour "Nood" on a custom vanity with a stone benchtop.

“It was really important to us that our primary bathroom retreat oozed that holiday vibe. To do this we incorporated organic tiles, brushed brass fixtures and finishes and multiple skylights to ensure that natural light was coming into the space.” - Alliera, Co-Founder of HAAUS
For most projects, the team at HAAUS request that the architect and interior designer separate the toilet area from the rest of the bathroom (space permitting) to allow the space to cater to different needs. This both enhances privacy but opens up the bathroom area to be used by numerous people at once - a game changer for functionality.
A last-minute basin swap led meant that the plumbing (which was already in place) left no room for a bottle trap in the WC. Working with Unique Custom Builders, the HAAUS team came up with a basin ‘base’ to conceal the pipes and had the team at Tailored Surface Finishes apply micro cement over the base to ensure it blended in with the rest of the bathroom. Looking at the finished product we would be none the wiser as the Loop 02 Basin in the colour “Nood” looks like it was made for the space.
Once again the team at HAAUS has revealed a space designed for entertaining, that emphasises design and functionality in a home that is bound to be enjoyed for years to come. Discover the full three part HAAUS.5 Series on the HAAUS YouTube Channel.
