Set on the coastline of South West Rocks, Solace is a retreat where Mediterranean charm drifts effortlessly into the rhythm of coastal Australia. Designed by Heather and Sarah of Oak & Orange, it is the latest chapter in a story that began more than fifteen years ago, when two friends, now design partners, turned a shared love of creating homes into a practice devoted to beauty and ease.
With over seventeen homes brought to life alongside their husbands’ construction business, Oak & Orange has become known for crafting spaces that are as practical as they are poetic, each one designed for modern family life without sacrificing a sense of calm and style.
Created as a true coastal retreat, Solace balances intimacy and connection, with open plan spaces that flow effortlessly from indoors to out, turning each moment into a quiet celebration of sun and sea.
Every bathroom at Solace tells its own story, with Nood Co. basins woven into the narrative. The master ensuite centres around the Slip Basin in Morning Mist, echoing the soft curve and calming presence of a Mediterranean sunrise. Ensuites two and four are anchored by the Mill Basin in Sand, bringing warm, sun washed tones that reflect the coastal landscape. Ensuites three and five lean into a more grounded palette, with Mill Basins in Mushroom offering a retreat like intimacy. And in the powder room, the sculptural Cylinder Hoop Basin in Olive adds a playful splash of colour, a joyful nod to Mediterranean vibrancy.
Our basins are more than functional pieces here. They are moments of calm within the experience, their tactile surfaces and organic forms echoing the spirit of Oak & Orange’s vision - refined yet unpretentious, elevated yet deeply relaxed.
Every detail at Solace has been chosen with care. From arched doorways and timber ceiling boards to natural stone tiles and sculptural fireplaces, the home layers Mediterranean soul with Australian coastal ease. Together, these choices create a space that feels both crafted and effortless, a place to reconnect, recharge and linger.
